Mario Carpet

Handwoven on shaftloom (no tapestry)
40cm x 40cm
My interest in videogames and weaving intersect, both weaving, which I see as an ancient digital medium (since it is totally based on the binary code) and videogames, which are a modern digital medium. This is bringing together my childhood memories and my adult occupation as a textile artist, this homely and decorative work also relates to my Super Nintendo animation practice where I use the old game console in order to create drawings and animated videos of my childhood home which became a gallery during gentrification. Both projects can be shown together, emphasizing the domestic, nostalgic aspects.
