Watchtower Wall Hanging
Ōtepoti, Aotearoa (Dunedin, NZ) 2010
Wool, cotton, handwoven on 24-shaft loom
200cm x 90cm
Light, semi abstract patterns, transform into my initials and then darker, concrete architectures of power and control. I grew up in Berlin and such a watchtower used to be near my favourite playground. I saw it every week, once an armored light tank drove by, it was in 1989 just before the Berlin Wall came down. My textiles are often about time and memory.
